When large loss events are encountered there is a need for a lot of equipment and a lot of trained technicians to operate the sophisticated equipment.

Flood Damage Cleaning And Restoration In Wetumpka Homes

With the Coosa River running through the heart of our city, Wetumpka residents are familiar with floods. They understand what kind of threats flooding presents to their home and health, and know that they need a professional restoration company to come in and get the job done right.

With flood damage, Wetumpka homes need thorough cleaning as well as water removal. The extra task is needed since outside water contains soil, fertilizers, animal waste, and other contaminants. SERVPRO response crews train to certify as Water Damage Restoration Technicians, or WRTs, to eliminate and remove every contaminant possible and dispose of items beyond restoration efforts.

Efforts start with spraying the surface of the standing water and all property with an anti-bacterial or an anti-microbial agent to eliminate the possible health threat from bacteria and mold. Depending on the type of surface, technicians may use a sterilant such as bleach.

Next, WRTs remove standing water and floodwater trapped in carpets or covering floors. They accomplish these steps with industrial-grade pumps and smaller extraction devices. All contaminated water removed goes into the nearest sewer access. If an access point is not available, they pump it into a tanker truck for eventual delivery to a water treatment plant.

After removing the water, SERVPRO crew members remove and dispose of all carpets and rugs. It is impossible to provide a 100% guarantee of cleanliness, so this action is the only one team leaders take. The only reason they remove the floodwater is to make disposal easier and safer for the work crews.

Now, the WRTs spray every exposed surface with another chemical agent. They can apply a sterilant on concrete, stone, and linoleum, but use a less-damaging agent on wood floors to protect against accidentally damaging them. After it dries, WRTs use either water or a mild cleaner to remove any residues.

After cleaning, crew members look for water trapped under floors and behind walls. To remove it, they spray the sub-floor and wall cavities with a chemical agent and then remove it all with small extraction devices and a hose.

At SERVPRO of Prattville, we cover a large area, including other towns like Elmore, Millbrook, and Tallassee. It is our privilege to help return homes here, and in other areas, to a clean and dry condition after flood damage. If you need us, call today at (334) 358-1186 to get started.
